DANCE REFUGE
a day-long seasonal Open Floor dance retreat
Facilitated by Henry Fowkes
“Rest is the conversation between what we love to do and how we love to be.” David Whyte
Dance Refuge is a space of deeper time to support us to replant ourselves in the skin we are in. A nourishing place to reconnect and recalibrate. A time to drop into our soulful embodied experience and rest in something greater than our busy doing-ness. All amongst the kind trees and windy river in Warrandyte.
The day is a mixture of a vibrant Open Floor dance workshop and curious creative inquiry. We use Open Floor Movement Practice - a lively, mindful, free form movement practice - as a resource to connect to our physical bodies, feelings, thoughts and soulful longings. We use reflective practices such as writing, art and sharing with others, to listen to the wisdom of our soul’s.
Dance Refuge retreats are held at the change of each season and have been running since spring 2022. This aims to be a supportive anchor and remembering throughout the year.

WHAT TO EXPECT
As you enter the dance space, the teacher will be playing some music for you to warm up to. This is a time for you to arrive and warm up your body, from the inside out. Take some time to tune into your body, your senses, allow your body to lead the way.
As we move deeper into the workshop, you will be guided to move, include and explore through dance and self reflection
Please turn your phone off, keep talking off the dance floor, and take personal responsibility for your own needs.
